An Update of Fauzi Azar Inn Projects

1 - The English language lessons are currently being conducted by Joanna. Her student at the moment is Bahaa, a radio editor and we are in the process of acquiring more students through advertising. Bahaa has had 4 lessons to date at 30nis per lesson, which is divided between the inn and the volunteer conducting the lesson. As Joanna is leaving in the next fortnight the plan at the moment is to have either myself or Benjamin, the new volunteer expected on September 6th to take over.
In August Fauzi has made 45nis from English language classes as they are paid for weekly, this equals 3 lessons in one week.
2 - The arts and crafts day will be a weekly occurrence after receiving positive feedback from participants. It was open to both local children and families staying at the inn. Activities included; mask painting, plasticine, crafts, hula hooping, dance lessons and games from the Czech Republic. As an opening session there were a good number of children and if it takes place regularly on a Sunday perhaps the numbers will increase.
The cost of the craft day was 149nis.
3 - Arabic lessons are free for volunteers and are conducted by Norhan. We are aiming to hold these at least twice a week, so far we have covered basic salutations and days, weeks, months etc.
4 - forthcoming projects include; a sports program hopefully funded/supported by the children’s evangelical foundation? A workshop which supports local women and helps them to gain skills for the workplace.
