Fauzi Azar was by far the greatest place we have had the pleasure to stay in Israel. AS soon as we walked in we were wlecomed by the friendliest people, had the nicest view and sincerly felt like we were home.
Although our stay was short, we enjoyed every second of it and it will be encrypted in our memories (and on pictures!) for the rest of our lives.
Thank you to everyone there for such an ecstatic experience and make our travel one of the greatest so far.
All the best to all the people of Fauzi Azar and again, thank you for everything.
Fauzi Azar Inn in Nazareth is a great place to stay – I would highly recommend it to others and would definitely stay there again next time I’m passing through Nazareth. The location is great, it was very clean and the staff and volunteers there were fantastic. We had a great trip.
This hostel is in a great location – a beautiful old Nazareth mansion in the heart of the old town. The dorm room was clean and comfortable, with lockers provided. The toilet and showers were spotless, the kitchen was big and well-equipped and there was free internet access. All in all it’s just a lovely, laid-back place, run by friendly and helpful staff. It’s the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in.
Greetings from Denmark, where we are back from our holiday in Israel.
We would like to thank you again for the wonderful time we had at the Fauzi Azar hostel. Such a lovely place, such a friendly and helpful
staff! It was a pleasure to stay with you, and we will definitely do it again next time we visit the country.
Our special greeting goes to Suraida whose personal care and attention
for us went way beyond what one would expect at an ordinary hostel.
But of course your hostel is not ordinary at all… Thank you for the wonderful olive oil, too! I have just had it again for breakfast with a nice goat cheese and some fresh vegetables, and I must tell you that
this is one of the most delicious olive oils I have ever tasted. And what is more, it will always remind us of the sunny days in Nazareth.
Our best wishes,
Gyorgy, Bodil, Benjamin, Sara and Gabriel Sajo
Hey I just wanted to say thanks.
We had such a great stay at your Inn and really enjoyed Nazareth. We didn’t expect to stay so long, but the accomodations and the atmosphere were just the right mix.
The neighborhood was colorful, and although mazelike, after 2 days we seem to recognize the streets. It made it very nice as well to go on a small tour. My boyfriend is not fond of them but after we went a small 1 hour tour he was glad to have done it.
You’ve really made a great place where many different cultures can meet and sit down to have a chat. I’m glad we stayed. Thanks for a great experience.
I am very greatfull I could stay at this hostel. The owner, Surayda, was very kind and helpfull. This hostel is a special one , because of workers-GABI, who took care of our comfort, HANA and MARWA, thanks whom we felt like home(every day we ate fresh cake ). I will never forget time i spend there…the sweet memories.
Our tour group of 41 pilgrims from Canada, US and Australia recently stayed at the Fauzi Azar Inn and the Al-Mutran Guest House as part of a ten day tour to Israel. We were able to arrange a two day bike tour on the Jesus Trail from Nazareth to Capernaum, camping in the Levi Forest mid-way through the bike tour. Very positive comments came from the tour group with regards to our accommodations, the after supper entertainment, our bike tour guide (Silvie) and the bike tour in general.
All pilgrims responded positively, that they would repeat the experience again.
A wonderful place to stay. Facilities are clean, comfortable, convenient to everything, and with a friendly, helpful staff. I came for a night and stayed 4 days! Owners working hard to restore the beautiful old building and develop the “Jesus Trail”. Highly recommended.
The hostel is very attractive and clean, with new and modern bathrooms. I enjoyed my stay here it is great place to catch up with other travelers it has that ambience and facilities to do that much more than other hostels i have stayed at. The dorm was also spacious and cool, which was a relief in the hot climate
This hostel is amazing! When you arrive, you can’t imagine what is on the other side of the door but it is a great surprise! THe place to chill is nice and the dormitory is quiet and cool. Too bad i did not stay more than one night! I recommend this place to anybody!
The Fauzi Azar in was really the highlight of our trip to Nazareth, believe it or not. The staff is amazing- so enthusiastic and genuinely concerned with the well-being of the guests. We had a wonderful tour of the old city from one of the hostel volunteers, in which we visited many hidden gems and experienced more of the culture than we would have been able to on our own. The building is gorgeous, the people are fantastic. I wish I could have stayed longer!

The Fauzi is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to Nazareth. The incredibly friendly and helpful staff and volunteers, the atmosphere, the location in the old city, the clean and comfortable facilities, all make this by far the best hostel I have found, anywhere!
It’s difficult to use words to describe a stay at the Fauzi Azar Inn…It’s by far the most incredible historic place I have ever stayed at.It is not a hostel. it feels more like being an important guest in a VIP home…many thanks to Maoz Inon for creating this wonderful place!!…the best comment i can give is what a visitor said upon visiting Fauzi Azar-” WOW! I wish i had stayed here instead!!!” …also we extended OUR stay from 1 to 4 days!! nuff said
t was A most plessent stay! And I felt like I was part of A great family. Specelly god was the intruduction information when I arrive. It was good to know how things work inthe hostel and what there are to do! Many Thanks for doing my holliday to a good memory!
It was later in the evening when my friend and I arrived in Nazareth. Both being so tired, we had trouble finding the inn. But wouldn’t you know it; Anna came on foot to find us and helped us with our luggage to the inn. We met David, who was so kind (I was totally out of my mind by this point! He must think me in need of a straight jacket!) and were shown a copy of our book which had been viewed by many (toda!). Miriam (my friend) chose the family room for her room while I was given the suite, which was just fabulous. I don’t know if I was just tired or the bed was really that comfy, but I slept like a log. Even morning prayer call at 4 am didn’t bother me except enough to stir slightly. What can I say about the breakfast??? Could I have eaten any more and could it have been any tastier? I think not. Miriam and I were given the world’s most wonderful guide for the Jesus Trail, of which we only wanted a sampling. Did we get the best? YES! I can’t decide if my favorite part was the climb atop the Horns of Hittim or the walk in the Valley of Doves. This is an artist’s dream of a place and one that an adventurous spirit should not miss.

For Sue and me staying at The Fauzi Azar was one of the great travelling experiences of our lives. That is a mixture of location, the house and above all the people. We looked for accommodation and had a life enhancing experience.
I’m not sure if you remember me, but I believe I was your inn’s first guest in 2005. I recently heard from a friend that they had stayed with you and I decided to see how things are going. Congratulations on all your success and, God willing, I hope we might meet again sometime.
No doubt the best place to stay if you go to Nazareth. Great Location in the centre of the town town, an amazing historic building, clean and tidy rooms, warm atmosphere and overall really nice and helpful staff.
I left a laptop in the room, and they found it and shipped it to me with no extra cost. I appereciated a lot.
It was a pleassure to spend our time there.
Thanks for everything.

This place was way beyond my expectations. The 2 century old walls are full of character. The place is beautiful and nicely kept with friendly and helpful staff. They offered us homemade cake (3 to choose from) upon our arrival in the evening and they had fresh mint leaves and cut lemon and special Arabic tea. The breakfast was full of choices from local dishes to cereal. The room had clean linens and fresh towels. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Top location. Friendly staff. Superb property. Hopefully the management is able to re-gain ownership of the other half of the building, so they can double their capacity. Enjoyed our stay and the tour of the old city very much. Family included 4 children.
Wonderful old Arabic mansion in a peaceful location. Helpful staff and volunteers. The rich Arabic breakfast (30 NIS) and Linda’s (volunteer) guided tour to the city’s hidden treasures (15 NIS) is absolutely a must! Nice place to stay both for individual travellers, families or for groups. It was our second time at the hostel, and we will come again!
What can I say?? As Italian I have the habit to see amazing stuff everyday instead I couldn’t believe that a simple hostel could impress me so much; evidently it’s true the way to say that in life “you never know”!
In fact I found a beautiful building, very charming and clean, in the middle of the old city close to everything you have to see in Nazareth!
And the staff: It makes you feel as you were home!
Thank you Fauzi and… Arrivederci a presto…spero!
Lonely Planet highly recommended Fauzi Azar as a top pick, and thought they steered me dead wrong on Squalid Walid’s in Old Acre, they were absolutely right in this case. Fauzi Azar Inn is the best bang for your buck in the entire country; for $55 each we got two single rooms, endless tea and coffee on the porch overlooking the garden, a cake baked daily for the guests, and more information on the area and tour options than I’ve ever seen in any five star hotel lobby. This is the place to stay in Nazareth.

A wonderful change of pace during our travels throughout Israel. Incredibly helpful staff, who went out of their way to assist us, especially with all the luggage that had to be carried from the closest point we could bring our vehicle. A genuine exposure to both arab architecture and hospitality!!
We had a wonderful stay at Fauzi Azar – very comfortable, very relaxing, and very friendly helpful staff. A really beautiful house )
One suggestion however – I think your map in the instructions could be better, like the one the reception gave us at the front desk! Also you really need to make it clear that it is not possible to drive there…just tell people there is a garage where it´s possible to park!
We had a wonderful stay at Fauzi Azar Inn, unfortunately only for 1 night. We arrived late in the evening and stayed until noon the next day. Very nice and special house in the heart of the old town, very helpfull staff, very good breakfast. We learned about the history of the house and its owners, enjoyed the home-made cake and learned how to make real Arabic coffee! I recommend this place for everyone coming to Nazareth, and hope I will come back some time!
Thanks for giving us such a wonderful experience, and good luck to all of you.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Nazareth. I just loved the atmosphere, the people and the place itself. If you ever have the chance to come to Nazareth this is the place to stay. Staff is very helpful and everyone helps you to make the best out of your time. Have been travelling a lot and it will be hard to find a better hostel than the Fauzi Azar Inn. Enjoy your time.
There really couldn’t be a better place to stay even if you’re only there for a night. Fauzi Azar Inn offers a warm welcome, a homely atmosphere and a very personal touch and is worth the trip to Nazareth. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean but it was Soraida’s story of how her family home became an inn welcoming people from all over the world that really made us feel at home.
What a wonderful place ! Suraida and her team are so caring about theire guests and everythink is done to satisfy them. Special thanks to Joel, who works there as a volonteer, but knows everythink about the region and Israel and is a great source of information. The Rooms are nice, especially those downstairs. When you are driving make sure you get good directions beforehand as it is a bit tricky to find and you have to walk the last 300 meters, but the staff is more than happy to meet you on the way and guide you.
We were staying there together with our 82 year old farther and he loved it so much he wants to come back next year.

Though we only stayed one night we had an excellent time as we did the year before. In fact it was so good we will continue to recommend to all indpt travellers and will even suggest to our children (who are at university) that they consider spending a few months as a volunteer at your great place – Dr Jonathan Adams (stayed on 25th October 2010)
I stayed if the Fauzi Azar inn a couple of weeks ago with a friend and her child (10 years old). We loved the place, absolutely charming, very clean, spacious and confortable. With good WIFI and very friendly atmosphere.
But the best overall was the service. We arrived at night by car, they went to pick us up at a corner closed by, showed us around for a safe parking lot and walked us to the hotel. Really nice.
i really recommend this place.
