I’m Maoz Inon and my life - and travelling partner - for the
last 10 years is Shlomit.
While I’m running the Inn, Shlomit is working as an
electronics engineer for Intel Israel.
Our 2004 World Tour began in our homeland Israel,
where we thru-hiked the Israel
National Trail (see blog)
for 37 days.
In August, we hiked 500 miles of the Californian section of the Pacific Crest
Trail.
From LA we went to Ecuador
and the Galapagos Islands and explored South America, including Peru, Bolivia,
Chile and Argentina. From Buenos AiresShlomit
went back to Israel and I
took a flight to New Zealand
where I worked in Buscot Station, one of the most highly ratedBackpackers in
the country. The company is owned and run by Tony Gloag, my hostelling mentor
and a longtime friend.
On our 1998 World Tour we spent three months In New Zealand, five months
travelling around Australia
and another two months trekking in Nepal.
In the gap between the tours, we were studying and working in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Shlomit is a certificated electronics engineer and for the past three years has
been working at Intel. I on the other hand, still have a few courses to
complete before graduating with a B.A. in economics and management. I have held
several positions in customer service, sales and business development at a
private Israeli company.
Shlomit is into extreme sports, such as skydiving and rock climbing. She is a
three-star scuba diver and, of course, an enthusiastic hiker. But above all,
Shlomit is a talented chef and her homemade cakes will probably be what you
remember the most from you stay with us.
I am concentrating on hiking, also writing a guidebook for the Israel National
Trail, and am currently in the process of founding Israel's National Trail
Association.
Both of us enjoy reading books, listening to music and meeting new people and,
of course, travelling.
